When it comes to 3D images for an unbeatable result you can't go past a stereo pair. However
if you require a 2D to 3D conversion of an existing photograph or artwork then we are able to assist you to gain the most
natural looking result achievable at a realistic price.
We have experienced 3D artists that are extremely good at 2D to 3D conversions. Your final 3D
conversion can then be displayed in a number of different ways, such as anaglyph, side by side
stereo pairs or a polarised slide show.
The Conversion Process
The amount of time required to convert artwork from 2D to 3D can range quite a bit from anywhere from 10mins to 10hrs. The amount of time spent on an image
or piece of artwork will depend on a number of factors including:
- The file format, (Eg:- flat, like a JPG or layered like a Photoshop file)
- The artwork itself, including image or layer content, colours and complexity of the artwork.
- The expected result, (Eg:- Does the client expect a average, good or stunning result)
All of these factors will play a part in how long it will take to convert your 2D artwork to a 3D / anaglyph image.
Our graphic artist first starts by identifying the
various objects within the artwork, their current estimated depths and how we would like it to look in the end result. Once this is complete we are able to
assess which parts and objects within that image need to be altered to achieve the desired 3D conversion.
The artist now moves onto the difficult part. Each section of the image is now manipulated to
construct the other side of the stereo pair. This can range from subtle shifting and warping to completely taking the image apart and
reassembling it, followed be reconstructing the missing pixels. The reassemble process can take a long time due to the fine work required in rebuilding parts
of the image that are damaged during the disassembly and conversion process.
Of course every image is different, and because of this the end result will depend largely on the initial
image provided.
Before we start we will give you a fairly good idea if an image can be turned
into a good conversion or a great one. If an image is a good candidate for 2D - 3D conversion and it is
converted correctly, then the result can be quite spectacular.
